Bullying Hurts

Bullying can be a hard thing to talk about. It can mean one thing to one person and something totally different to someone else. Ask some people to describe it and they will talk about the big kid who hits or threatens the little kid - well, it just isn't that easy. That's the stereotype - right? What about the quiet and more subtle kind of bullying, the kind where a person is constantly excluded and humiliated or when a person is taunted or targeted over the internet? And, what about the constant gossip from the same people over and over again? What about when the bullies are girls? What about when the bullies are really popular kids? What about when the bully might be a teacher, coach, camp counselor, or parent?

Bullying
When one person gets pleasure
From another's pain!

We know of some kids who receive citizenship awards and yet they still bully. Who would ever think of a nice kid bullying - well, they do, and many get away with it even in adulthood! It's just not that easy to deal with - try asking the researchers who have been studying bullying for years! It's not like there are easy answers, especially if you are the one on the receiving end! And yet we still hear adults saying things like, 'Oh they deserved it'. Well, they are dead wrong!

No one ever deserves to be bullied.
